Hi everyone! It has been a long time since my last blog. But, the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra has been very busy with our annual Duke Energy Yuletide Celebration concerts!
I want to inform you of our New Year's Eve concert featuring your own Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra and the world class dance troupe from Indy: Dance Kaleidoscope - it will be like being in Vienna. And this evening is very affordable!!!
Afterwards you leave your seats and in the lobby you will be entertained by my 8 piece band. It used to be called the Indianapolis Jazz/Rock Ensemble but now goes by (modesty) THE PAUL BERNS BAND.
PIANO/BASS/GUITAR/DRUMS/WOODWIND SPECIALIST/TRUMPET/TROMBONE and I will front the band (play a little percussion) and you can decide if you think I do a good job as MC. We will have the 'official' countdown to midnight (and I specialize doing this). We have played 12/31 after ISO concerts for many years and have also played 12/31 for 10 years on the top floor of the Columbia Club (that was wild), Meridian Hills Country Club, and other places.
In the last couple of years we have performed on CBS live TV for a tribute to the Final Four. We were featured entertainment at the last Formula 1 race - yes, I have a picture of myself on the huge INDY 500 TV screens (very cool indeed), opened for Gladys Knight, weddings, The Rose Awards, and the list goes on.
We will play all styles of music - Glenn Miller, Moonlight Serenade, In the Mood, to rock n roll and even "Dancing with the Stars" style.
Thrilled to have the #1 recording guitar giant in town, Sandy Williams, playing, on bass from the IU School of Music, Gary Potter, former music director for Johnny Mathis and Andy Williams, Mike Lucas on keyboards, and the ISO's own Blake Schlabach (on bone), Bob Wood (on trumpet), and Mark Ortwein (on alto sax, tenor sax, soprano sax, and maybe flute & clarinet)
Hope to see you December 31 at 9pm....this concert is NOT to be missed
PAUL BERNS
