A Mid-Week Roundup

TONIGHT. The legendary singer Liza Minnelli performs. In about an hour, the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra begins rehearsing and Ms. Minnelli arrives later for a sound check.  There are only a handful of tickets left - so hurry and call the box office!  639-4300.
3-4-2
3-4-2.  If you go to our website, you're immediately greeted by the best deal anywhere. Pick any two Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra concerts in the Classical, Pops or Symphonic Hits series, and you'll receive the third concert for free.  Perry Scott, Acting Principal Cello, and his wife Lisa, second violin, said they would pick Beethoven 7, Mendelssohn's "Italian" Symphony and the Dvorak Cello Concerto. "These works are some of the most beautiful in the repertoire."

A PizOrganza Palace Flashback. When we announced our new Wurlitzer Pipe Organ series, I had flashbacks of going to "Pizza and Pipes," a pizza and pipe organ joint in Seattle where I grew up. I loved listening to the grand pipe organ while I picked pepperoni off of my pizza, and I adored even more the way my father would try to stump the organist with his special requests.  In this three-concert series, you'll hear all the pops favorites from the Great American Songbook performed by the best organists around--Ken Double, Mark Herman and Martin Ellis. And it's only 20 bucks per show (no pizza though, sorry)!

A Wicked Announcement, Yet Filled With Glee.  My mother and I went to the original Idina Menzelversion of "Wicked" on Broadway in New York. I went in to the theatre that night being a big fan of Kristen Chenoweth.  I left the theatre that evening an even bigger fan of Idina Menzel.  Since then, she's appeared in films and on the hit show "Glee!" (and I'm told the Gleeks love her).  She performs alongside the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra on March 2.

Stay tuned for more round-ups. With a 52-week orchestra, the news rarely slows down.
