Vivid memories!

When I think back on past Holiday seasons, the Yuletide Celebration always holds priority in my rolodex of memories. I'm 26 years old now and still remember, vividly, my visits to the Yuletide Celebration as a little girl. The giddiness covered over me as my family filed through the doors of the Hilbert Circle Theater. Out of the crisp December air and away from the streets where horse's hooves could be heard trotting around Monument Circle. Colorful hues of light radiated from the top of the slightly sloped walk as I impatiently waited in the ticket window corridor. I recall the excitement I got when my father handed me my ticket to allow entry into this once a year event. The joy I felt when the towering Christmas tree greeted me was overwhelming and the echoing of the hand chimes from the balcony above was almost tangible. Without hesitation, my father would give my older sister and I money for a Santa Clause iced cookie and a little clear cup of soda. Every year I tried to save some of my cookie for intermission but never succeeded. Shortly after the treats, it was time! Seat found, coat tucked neatly over my lap for warmth, lights dimmed, the Celebration began. First half was filled with singing, dancing, and laughs. The second half was the best and most clever representation of the Christmas Carol. That experience has yet to be trumped. Small children beware, Scrooge and the chains of Marley were ententes never to be messed with but don't cower for too long or you'll miss Scrooge's transformation to the lovable man we all knew by the end night. Repeat that experience every year of your childhood and you will grow up to be a crazed Holiday bundle of merriness. This year I will be with my fiance, big sister and her special someone. Keep your eyes open for me. I'll be the one gazing at the Christmas tree with a cookie and soda in hand and an ora of complete fulfillment surrounding me. Happy Holidays, A crazed Holiday bundle of merriness!!
